An open-end spinning process in which the fibre material to be spun is conveyed separately in several slivers (50, 51, 52) and broken down into individual fibres (53). The separated fibres (53) are conveyed by individual air-flows into a spinning gap (3) formed between two friction elements (1, 2). During their transport in the spinning groove the separated fibres (53) are stretched. In order to perform this process, several sliver separation surfaces (80, 81, 82), independent of one another, are provided, from which separate fibre channels (90, 91, 92) lead into the spinning gap (3). These sliver separation surfaces (80, 81, 82) belong to a common separation cylinder and are isolated from one another by annular collars (83, 84).
