The shoulder screw or vice screw (20) has, at the front, a thread (22) which can be screwed into wood or into a plug, and a further thread (24) at the rear. In particular for use in installation, where the front thread (22) can often only be screwed into a plastic plug with difficulty, the shoulder (28) is formed into a polygon (30) having four or six sides. Additionally or alternatively, a cross-slot, which preferably does not reach radially to the thread (24), can be provided in the rear end surface of the screw. In both cases it is achieved that the shoulder screw or vice screw can be screwed, for example, into a plug, even with a relatively large torque and using a motor-driven screwdriver, without any danger of the rear thread (24) being damaged. Furthermore, the surfaces for applying a screwdriver tool also provide the possibility of unscrewing the screw again, entirely or partially. <IMAGE>
