A plug is proposed, especially for connection to an RF coaxial cable which has an outer conductor and a cable sheath, in the case of which the free end of the cable is inserted into a plug housing which is formed from two parts which can be screwed to one another axially, and is held therein such that it is at least relieved of strain, by means of an expanding element, and in the case of coaxial cables is relieved of strain by the interaction of the expanding element with a sleeve which can be pushed in under the outer conductor or the cable sheath, and, with respect to the outer conductor, is held in conductive connection with the plug housing, and in the case of which the expanding element is formed by an expanding body which can tilt, especially a compression ring, in order to reduce the components required, to simplify assembly and, finally, for safe and protective handling of the cable. <IMAGE>
