The mirror foot (10) attached to the body (11) is connected via a first articulated spindle (12) to the connecting link (13). The mirror casing (16) is connected to the connecting link (13) via a second articulated spindle (14). A stop bolt (21) extends from the base plate (15) of the mirror casing (16) into the snap-in hole of a block (23) of the mirror foot (10). If the mirror casing (16) is struck, the stop bolt (21) is released from the block (23), so that the mirror casing is then suspended on the mirror foot (10) via the connecting link (13) and can be freely pivoted about the two articulated spindles (12, 14). The mirror casing can be brought back into its normal position by pressing the stop bolt (21) in the block (23). A releasable adjusting linkage for an outside mirror which can be adjusted from inside the vehicle is also described. <IMAGE>
