PURPOSE:To reduce working costs without causing any cracks to the products, by hot-working a phosphor bronze ingot after previous cold working at a specific draft in working the phosphor bronze into a spring or the like. CONSTITUTION:The phosphor bronze ingot consisting of 3-12% Sn, 0.01-0.5% P, and the balance Cu is subjected to cold working such as cold rolling at 5-40% draft. The cold rolled ingot is heated to 700 deg.C and hot-rolled to be worked into a plate for a spring of 10mm thickness. By this method, the hot working which has so far been considered to be impossible as it causes cracks can be executed in the process of phosphor bronze working. As a result, the frequency of process annealing can be sharply decreased as compared with the working by cold working alone, and the cost in working into final thickness can be reduced.
