False floors are constructed using quadrilateral slabs or tiles (10, 60) which are mounted on supporting columns or legs (15, 102). Each slab or tile has a diagonal line of weakness, permitting the tile to yield about the line of weakness to form two joined, triangular portions. The slabs or tiles are conveniently, but not necessarily, constructed as pre-cast concrete slabs, with a slot (11, 62) providing the diagonal weakness. A panel comprising a plurality of connected slabs or tiles, each having the features of the present invention, is also described. Preferably such panels are hexagonal. |
