The invention can be used in the case of processes for voltage setting and voltage regulation. The object of the invention is to create a circuit arrangement by means of which the interruption-free changeover from one winding tap to another is possible without the interposition of a lower voltage, irrespective of the switching direction, under conditions where no short-circuit occurs between the winding taps and the phase angle between the current and voltage still has no effect. A number of windings are arranged on a common iron core, which number corresponds to the number of winding taps, each winding being connected in series with in each case one winding tap of the transformer and a semiconductor switch. The winding sense of the windings which are arranged on the common iron core is in each case in the opposite direction for adjacent windings. The semiconductor switches are driven such that one or two adjacent semiconductor switches are always switched on.
