A process for suspension separation, for example for sludge dewatering, provides that before the pressing station, a continuous introduction of fibre materials in solid or suspended form is carried out. As a result, it is possible, for a predetermined final dry matter content of the suspension, matched to the particular composition of the sludge material supplied, to add a precisely metered amount of a fibre material, so that after the dewatering process, for example by pressing, precisely the predetermined dry matter content is achieved which is required, for example, for storage in landfill. In order to ensure thorough mixing, the fibre materials are preferably added as a suspension directly into the transport pipe of the sludge material, where, depending on the dimensioning and design of the supply apparatuses, a separate mixing means can further be connected downstream.
