The stock magazine (5) for a rifle has an essentially parallelepiped housing (6) which is closed at the bottom by a spring-loaded folding cover (10) which closes a removal opening (7). The folding cover (10) and the removal opening (7) extend only over the region of the cartridge case (8) which is in each case resting on the front lateral wall (6a), and the housing (6) is closed in the remaining region at the bottom by a lower, fixed wall (12). Provided in the housing (6) is a slide (13) which extends at right angles to the lower wall (12), can be displaced parallel to the lower wall (12) in the direction of the removal opening (7) by means of a spring (14) and in each case rests on the last cartridge case (8). The folding cover (10) has on its inside an extraction hook (17) which in each case points towards the cartridge (9) which is resting on the lateral wall (6a) and engages in the extraction groove (8b) of the cartridge case (8) in such a manner that, when the folding cover (10) is being opened, said cartridge case (8) is partially pulled out of the housing (6) downwards. <IMAGE>
