Device for stapling sheet-like material, such as textile material, by means of staples, comprising a feed part, which at a delivery opening has a holding and guide device for at least one staple as well as an ejecting device, and an abutment part which is located opposite the feed part and is movable relative to the feed part and has a die located opposite the delivery opening and having at least two shaping recesses, by means of which the legs of a staple, which in the as-supplied state run essentially at right angles from the staple web, can in each case be bent over during the stapling operation at least at their free end section, the die having a first shaping recess, by means of which in each case the one leg of a staple can be bent towards its web, as well as a second shaping recess, by means of which the other (second) leg of the staple can be bent away from the web essentially in the longitudinal direction of the web, the shaping recesses, with regard to their depth, measured from the top side of the die, being designed in such a way that the free end sections of the legs or the legs as a whole run at a distance from the web after the stapling operation. <IMAGE>
