PURPOSE:To synthesize in high yield a partially hydrogenated product from polycyclic aromatic compound, by hydrogenation, using a specific catalyst under specified conditions, of the nephthalene fraction-removed high-boiling fraction in coal tar as raw material. CONSTITUTION:Coal tar (sludge elimination-treated) is distilled to remove the light component up to absorption oil fraction to prepare a fraction with a boiling point >=ca. 280 deg.C. This fraction is subjected to hydrogenation under a hydrogen partial pressure 40-180kg/cm<2>G at 300-420 deg.C under an LHSV0.2-2.0hr<-1>, using a catalyst with an average pore size ca. 80-180Angstrom having the surface area corresponding to the pores of a size >=35Angstrom of ca. 100m<2>/g or more, prepared by carrying on a carrier ca. 10-30wt% of Mo oxides and ca. 1-6wt% of Ni and/or Co oxides, thus obtaining the objective compound with a partial hydrogenation degree Hbeta/Halpha>=1.1 derived from <1>H-NMR (Hbeta is the quantity of hydrogen attributed to delta=1.0-2.0ppm in the product; Halpha being the quantity of hydrogen attributed to delta=2.0-4.2ppm).
|
