NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (R2, R3, R22 and R23 are H or acyl, provided that 1 or 2 groups thereof are acyl). EXAMPLE:2alpha-Acetoxy-3alpha,22R,23R-trihydroxy-24S-methyl-7-oxa-B--h omo-5alpha-choles tan-6-one. USE:Plant growth regulator. PREPARATION:The objective compound can be prepared by protecting the 1-3 OH groups of the compound of formula II (R2', R3', R22' and R23' are H, silyl or protecting group of alkylidene, etc,; at least one of the above groups is H) (e.g. brassinolide) with silyl group, alkylidene group, etc., acylating the product with an acylation agent, separating the produced acylated product, and if necessary, removing the protecting group therefrom.
