<p>Sliding shoe, which is halfway between a ski and an ice skate is an appliance for moving on ice and on snow which has been compressed or frozen hard. It comprises a ski-shaped sliding plate which is approximately shoe length and the underside of which is provided with two or more metal running rails. The shoe is held at three points by a simple binding. Its special features are: - It can be used with any fixed sporting shoe. - Its two possible applications, i.e. on ice or snow. - Movement on it can be learnt relatively easily, because of its high degree of stability on ice and reliable holding of tracks on snow. - Its lightness and its small, handy shape. Because of these features, the sliding shoe is suitable both as a sporting appliance and as means of transport. It is equally suitable for children older than about three years, young people and adults.</p> |
