When a plurality of winding stations (I, II, III) is used, a single drive shaft (I) which is driven by the individual driving station (A) is provided for the drive of the driving rollers (9, 10, 11). A drive branch (15, 16, 17) having a continuously variable gear (21, 22, 23) for the drive of thread-laying devices (18, 19, 20) branches off for each winding station from the drive shaft (1). The thread (F) supplied by a textile machine (T) is wound by means of a controller (24, 25, 26), assigned to each winding station (I, II, III), according to a preprogrammed package. The drive station (A) can be driven by a motor (36) or by the delivery unit of the textile machine (T) at a synchronous speed or at a speed with a fixed transmission ratio, a number of winding stations corresponding to the number of delivery units being drivable simultaneously. <IMAGE>
