The invention relates to a vertically adjustable hitch device, in particular for agricultural traction engines, consisting of a displaceable support which bears the hitch and has arranged at the ends holders which can be displaced in guide rails which are attached to the free legs of carriers attached to the rear of the tractor and can be fixed to the rear of the said tractor by means of a fixing device. The object of the present invention is to provide a vertically adjustable hitch which is characterised by a simple design, high degree of operational reliability, safety and simple handling properties. The invention consists in the fact that the guide rails are attached at the end sides to the free legs of the carriers, in that the holders are claws which partially embrace the guide rails and in that the fixing device consists of fixing elements which are pressed against the mutually facing sides of the guide rails or the carriers bearing them or engage in recesses in the carriers or guide rails.
