This towing winch for hang-gliders and gliders makes it possible for normal motor vehicles or motorboats to tow aircraft. It measures the tension force acting on the aircraft and, via the ignition and/or fuel supply, controls the force applied by the towing vehicle. If the maximum tension force is exceeded, the towing cable is released from the winch. Furthermore, the winch operator can separate the towing cable from the winch. The tension acting on the aircraft is also displayed to said operator. A rapid, immediate takeoff is possible as a result of the towing cable, which can stretch within limits.
