A foot covering, such as shoe (1), sandal, boot or the like, consists of a sole (2) with a heel (3) and a shaft (4) forming the front cap (5), side parts (6, 7) and the heel cap. In order to make it possible that even disabled, in particular paraplegic persons can put on the foot covering themselves or that putting it on is made easier for the assistant, the heel cap is designed to open up and consists of at least one tab (8) which adjoins at least one side part (7) towards the rear and extends over the heel region and which can be connected to the other side part (6) by a touch-and-close fastening (9). <IMAGE>
