The invention proposes a structure and method of forming an orthopaedic shaped article and a method of producing the structure, such that part of the body to be immobilised is surrounded by a flexible network of non-porous tubes which essentially are void of air at first and have at least one inlet. A flowable medium is then injected into the tube network, the medium being capable of rendering the network essentially rigid, and the tube network is kept detachably in place until the network has become rigid. <IMAGE>
