PURPOSE:To output a signal capable of recording accurately signals of the position and height of an echo even when the sweep time of a sweeping part is long by switching a sweep gate and a step gate according to the sweep time. CONSTITUTION:A transmitted signal based upon the output signal of a synchronizing part 1 is converted by a probe 3 into an ultrasonic signal, which is made incident on a material to be detected; and its reflected wave is converted into an electric signal. This electric signal is amplified by a receiving part 4 and sent to a display part 6 together with the output of the sweeping part 5. The output signal of the synchronizing part 1, on the other hand, is switched to a sweep gate generator 7 or step gate generator 10 by a switch part 11 with the output signal of the sweeping part 5. When the sweep time is short, an echo displayed by a sampling gate which moves continuously with time is sampled and when the sweep time is long, on the other hand, the echo displayed by the sampling gate which moves stepwise with time is sampled, thereby outputting the signal capable of recording the accurate position and height of the echo depending on the sweeping time without any error. |
