PURPOSE:To execute efficiently the character string input work from recording media and an external communication system at a high speed and to decrease the burden of an operation by dividing automatically an input character string into the converting unit, and applying the result successively in a lump with KANA (Japanese syllabary) KANJI (Chinese character) conversion. CONSTITUTION:When a character string is inputted in accordance with the reading, a control part 1 divides with both a period and a 'read' point or the period only, sends to an input character memory part 3 and an in-bulk (solid) input KANA/KANJI conversion is executed. Namely, the character string, which is inputted from an external communication system, etc., through record ing media of a floppy disk, etc., set at an external memory device part 7 or the communication part 8, is automatically divided into a conversion unit by the conversion algorithm. The sub-divided character string is successively converted to the character string mixing KANJI by the in-bulk input KANA/ KANJI conversion. Thus, the character string input work from recording media of the floppy disk, etc., and the external communication system can be executed efficiently and at a high speed and the burden of the operator can be decreased.
