PURPOSE:To improve S/N due to black current by providing the potential- changing mean interlocked with an accumulation mode change-over, which lowers the high-level potential of three-valued pulses during the frame mode to the potential lower than that in the field mode. CONSTITUTION:The output DELTAV is clamped at middle level VM by a capacitor 40 and diode 39, and is connected to the power line of a phiv inverse driver 36. Therefore, within the duration of read-out pulses DELTAv, the output waveform phiv 38 becomes the voltage VM decided by the input voltage 31, but other times are the tree-valued pulses of an amplitude between VM-VL of potential. Because the read-out level is interlocked with the accumulation mode change-over and is changed, during a field accumulation mainly for an animation image observa tion, the level is made higher to give priority to low after-image characteristic. But during a frame accumulation mode mainly for the observation of stationary images, the read-out pulses are lowered, to improve S/N.
