<p>A coffin, preferably intended for cremation, is made of a plastics material which burns with controlled emission of smoke and without emission of toxic gas. The material should also not leave any retardant smears or drips after combustion. Suitable materials are expanded polystyrene and phenolic foams. An outer surface layer may be laminated in the moulding process to give the coffin the appearance of being wooden.</p> |
