PURPOSE:To obtain a picture excellent in contrast and resolution independently of the scanning mode by providing a camera controller controlling an electron beam amount of an image pickup tube in response to the control of the scanning mode by a system controller. CONSTITUTION:When an image pickup mode is set in response to the purpose of diagnosis, the system controller 8 controls an X-ray generating section 1, a processor 6 and the camera controller 9 in response to the image pickup mode. Thus, the X-ray generating section 1 exposes an X-ray toward a body P to be checked, the X-ray transmitted through the body P to be checked is converted into an optical image by an I.I2 and made incident on an image pickup tube of a television camera 4. On the other hand, the camera controller 9 adjusts the electron beam amount and beam focus of the image pickup tube of the camera 4 in response to the scanning mode by using the scanning mode selection signal from the system controller 8. Thus, the picture with excellent contrast and resolution is obtained independently of the scanning mode.
