PURPOSE:To enable a high cooling effect by aligning the conductors of round wires in a straw-bag stack manner and directing cooling channels on viewing from a wound superconductor in all directions. CONSTITUTION:Superconducting wires having circular sections are wound in a straw-bag stack and alignment manner. Insulating tapes are wound spirally around the superconducting wires, and electrical insulation is ensured while the tapes are operated as spacers among the superconducting wires, thus constituting cooling channels. Since the cooling channels 4 are directed in all directions in the sections of coils, the directions of the cooling channels do not change substantially even when the positions of the sections of poloidals after, thus obtaining equal heat flow velocity. Accordingly, a cooling effect is kept constant without depending upon the positions of the sections of the poloidals, margins more than required need not be taken, the degrees of freedom on the designs of the superconducting wires and the helical coils are increased, and manufacturing cost is also reduced. |
