PURPOSE:To make possible the formation of an optical fiber tape cord over a long length by housing optical fiber tapes into a U-shaped sleeve or a sleeve having a slit and inserting such sleeve into a plastic coating thereby constituting the optical fiber tape cord. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber tape 8 is housed in the U-shaped sleeve 14 and both tape 8 and sleeve 14 are housed in a sheath 4. The manufacture of the optical fiber tape cord is executed by exposing first the optical fiber tapes (8a, 8b, 8c, etc.) house;d in an optical fiber tape assembly type optical cable 7. The tape 8a is inserted through the aperture of the sleeve 14 to the inside of the sleeve 14 to manufacture the assemblage of the tape 8a and the sleeve 14. The tapes 8b, 8c are likewise inserted to the inside of the U-shaped sleeve to manufacture the assembly of the sleeve.
