Method for distributing covers, of the type utilising an endless elevator belt (2) provided with cleats (1) and having a substantially horizontal part and a steeply inclined part, consisting in tipping onto the horizontal part of the belt a number of covers (A) which is substantially equal to that which the cleats (1) can carry along at one time. Means of implementing the above method consisting in storing the covers in a hopper (3) which has an orifice (4) in its lower part, arranged above the horizontal part of the elevator belt, and through which the covers leave, carried along by an endless feed belt (5) forming the moving bottom of the said hopper (3). <IMAGE>
