PURPOSE:To furnish woody material with high dimensional stability and its manufacture by a method wherein woody particles are impregnated with polyethers and polymerization catalyst, treated by heating, coated with bonding agent, scattered over a mold, packed and finally pressed. CONSTITUTION:Because woody particles are impregnated with polyethers, the dimensions of the woody particles stabilize and consequently the dimensional stability of woody material such as particle board, which is manufactured by forming the woody particles by means of bonding agent into sheet is also improved. In addition, because the woody particles are impregnated with the polyethers together with polymerization catalyst and, after that, treated by heating, the efflux of the polyethers due to the absorption of water content and the consequent loss of dimensional stabilization effect are prevented from occurring. The woody particles consists of shavings, grinds and the like of wood and have no limitation as for the kind of wood, size, form and moisture content of particle, and the like. After being impregnated, the woody particles are dried. The moisture content of the particles is normally conditioned to 3-8%, though it depends to bonding agent. The dried particles are coated with bonding agent with a sizing application of the like. The forming of the particles is performed by hot-pressing the particles, after being coated with bonding agent, scattered over a flat plate mold or the like and packed. |
