Easily-cleaned mattresses and pillows, and also a method for washing them are claimed. - The mattresses and pillows consist of an inner part encased in a covering surrounded by a layer of open cellular material 1-2 cm thick. They may be cleaned by irradiation with u.v. light perhaps assisted by pulsating air pressure. Alternatively, they may be washed and rinsed in a more conventional manner, and dried by evacuating a chamber to 50% vacuum. The air is drawn through a condenser to remove water vapour and a heater. |
