1,147,287. Resilient mountings. CORD CORP. 19 June, 1967 [25 July, 1966], No. 28140/67. Heading F2S. A resilient mounting comprising a mesh of metal wires, e.g. stainless steel, initially compressed into a block having substantially uniformly dispersed voids by pressure stressing the wires beyond their yield point to develop a stable spring rate, is characterized by coating the wires with a material having a modulus of elasticity one tenth or less than the elasticity of the wires and an internal damping factor ten times or more that of the wires, the coatings on adjacent wires in contact with each other being united and the coatings only partially filling the voids. The coating is preferably permanently sticky, e.g. pressure sensitive adhesives, uncured or partially cured elastomers or viscoelastic damping materials, etc. |
