An organosilicon polymer whose main-chain skeleton is composed mainly of the following structural units (A), (B), (C), (D), (E) and (F) <IMAGE> <IMAGE> <IMAGE> <IMAGE> <IMAGE> <IMAGE> wherein R represents CH3 or H, said structural units forming linear, branched and cyclic structures, and said main-chain skeleton further having a polysilane skeleton <IMAGE> (2</=n</=10). The said organosilicon polymer can be produced by adding at least one anhydrous metal halide to a polysilane having the structure <IMAGE> the amount of the metal halide being 0.5 to 10% by weight based on the weight of the polysilane; and heating the mixture in an atmosphere inert to the reaction.
