PURPOSE:To obtain an alkali zinc storage cell with small capacity decrease and enhanced cycle life, by adding indium oxide or hydroxide effectively to a zinc electrode. CONSTITUTION:The content ratio of indium compound in the surface layer 3 of a zinc electrode in made 2-15wt% and greater than the content ratio of indium compound in the internal layer 2 of said electrode. Thereby, the growth of the dendrite crystal of zinc and the content ratio of indium compound in the zinc electrode surface layer most probable to occur therein are enhanced, thereby the electrode plate deformation of the zinc electrode being suppressed and at the same time, overvoltage at charge-discharge reaction lowering, as the content ratio of the indium compound in the internal layer of the zinc electrode is low. Therefore, the charge-discharge reaction in the internal layer of the zinc electrode, in which active material is apt to remain at unreacted state, is performed smoothly and the electrode reaction rate increases. |
