PURPOSE:To continue sterilization effect, by arranging an electrode having a metal such as silver or copper provided to the surface thereof in drinking water as an anode and applying DC voltage thereto to elute a metal ion. CONSTITUTION:An electrode rod 2 having silver laminated to the surface thereof in a predetermined thickness is arranged at the center in a storage tank 1. The electrode rod 2 is electrically insulated from the storage tank 1 to each other and a current can be supplied only through water in said tank 1. The plus side of a DC power source 4 is connected to the electrode rod 2 through a switch 3 and the minus side thereof to the storage tank 1. Every when water is replenished to the tank 1, DC voltage is applied to allow a metal ion such as a silver ion to enter into water from the surface of the electrode rod 2 to develop sterilization effect.
