PURPOSE:To increase the capacity of processing by pool-managing a buffer area for each file of the same block length and adding or deleting the buffer dynamically for buffer pool according to the degree of concentration of access and thereby allotting many buffers to files. CONSTITUTION:Blocks A1, A2-C2, D1 of files 1-4 are written on a buffer memory area 5 of the system, and discriminating information as to whether the block is in use or not is provided in a buffer managing table 6 for each block A4d1, A2-C2, D1. Link areas BT1, BT2 to be linked by a buffer pool managing table 7 are provided in a managing table 6. The memory area 5 is pool-managed for each file of equal block length by the managing table 7. Buffer is added or deleted to and from a buffer pool according to the address of concentration of access. Thus many buffers are allotted to the file and the processing capacity of the system is improved.
