The invention concerns a coating arrangement for the covering of running material tracks, especially paper web tracks, with a chamber for the application of the coating substance via an extended, narrow outflow opening in the chamber, which opening runs substantially parallel down the material track in its lateral direction, and a coating knife element, situated behind the chamber, in the material track's direction of flow, whereupon, between the material track, coating knife element and the chamber outflow opening, a surface layering zone is formed which, on the chamber's in-flow side, is restricted by a constricting plate, and on the sides of the material track's two edges is constricted by a coating edge delimiter. The surface layering zone is then separated by a wall (56) which substantially consists of a continuation of the chamber's rear wall in such a way that this wall, at least where it is adjacent to the counter cylinder end, comes to an end at a substantial distance from the counter cylinder respective to the material track, and similarly, comes to an end at a substantial distance from the coating knife (42); here, however, only to the extent that it, with the coating knife (42), forms an additional vent at the surface layering zone's (62) outflow end; that is to say, that end where the coating knife (42) is found. In this way, the pressure conditions, and especially also the flow conditions at the surface layering zone (62) can be controlled in a much better way, so that an even better, and more especially, consistent coating layer is ensured.<IMAGE> |
