PURPOSE:To obtain a low-moisture content crosslinked polymer which does not cause lowered electrical insulation by controlling the formation of moisture, by heating a specified organic polymer in an O2-free state. CONSTITUTION:A crosslinkable or crosslinked polymer (e.g., PE) as a polymeric electrical insulation material (e.g., an insulation coating of insulated cable) and containing an organic peroxide or its decomposition residues (e.g., dicumyl peroxide) is heated in an O2-free state, for example, in an inert gas such as N2, He or CO2 or in a sealed system hermetically sealed with a low-O2 permea bility tape, such as metal tape (e.g., lead tape- or resin tape (e.g., nylon tape) for preventing entrance of O2, whereupon the polymer can be crosslinked and bonded without increasing the moisture content in said organic polymer in, e.g., the insulation coating part or reinforcing part near the connecting part.
