PURPOSE:To attain the miniaturization and wt. reduction of an angular velocity detector, by using solid elements in a light source and a light receiver and assembling an exciting power source and a signal processing circuit in an integrated circuit. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber 1 is held at a part thereof by a fixing stand 2 and receives the light from a light source 3 from one terminal thereof and emits light at the other terminal thereof while emitted light is received by a light detector 4. A metal film is formed to the surface of the fiber 1 by vapor deposition. Then, an electric field is applied between the optical fiber 1 and the metal flat electrode 5 arranged in close vicinity to said fiber 1 in an alternating manner through an AC power source to mechanically vibrate the fiber 1. The direction and amplitude of this vibration are detected on the surface of the light detector 4 as the vibration of luminous flux in the direction shown by the arrow 7. Solid elements are used in the light source 3 and the light detector 4, and an exciting power source and a signal processing circuit are assembled in an integrated circuit to enable the miniaturiaztion and wt. reduction of an angular velocity detector. |
