NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula [when n=1, X is H, Cl, CH3, CH2CH3 or C(CH3)3, and when n=2, X is Cl substituted to 2- and 4-sites; m is 2-15]. USE:Polymerization initiator having excellent stability with time, and high polymerization initiation efficiency. PREPARATION:The objective compound can be prepared by mixing 7- ethylhexadecane-1,16-dicarboxylic acid chloride and a monobasic acid chloride corresponding to the terminal group of the formula, adding the mixture slowly to an aqueous solution of a peroxide such as sodium peroxide, calcium peroxide, etc. under stirring to effect the reaction, and separating the objective compound from the waste liquid after the completion of the reaction. The molar ratio of the 7-ethylhexadecane-1,16-dicarboxylic acid chloride to the monobasic acid chloride is usually about 1:(0.7-1), and the amount of the peroxide is about 0.5-1.5 equivalent based on the chlorine in the acid chloride mixture. The reaction temperature is about -10-+40 deg.C, preferably about -5-+15 deg.C.
