PURPOSE:To make relations between the recording density and the gradation level linear by using plural pattern which correspond to the increase of matrix elements to be colored and are different in pattern variance and selecting the pattern, which is adapted to a reference density giving a preliminarily determined equal gradation variance, from these pattern models to obtain a recording pattern corresponding to one picture element. CONSTITUTION:Two kinds of patterns, namely, dot patterns and Bayer letters are used, and one pattern according approximately with the reference density which gives the preliminarily set equal gradation variance is selected from patterns of each type. Patterns adapted to the reference density are selected properly from individual pairs of dot patterns and Bayer letters in this manner to record the variance of gradation approximately linearly. Thus, density skip is eliminated on a recorded picture to improve the picture quality. |
