PURPOSE:To provide a shape memory alloy having good mechanical properties and surface accuracy by cooling quickly and directly and solidifying the base alloy of a shape memory alloy in a molten state thereby forming a thin strip having a specific thickness without having a columnar crystal. CONSTITUTION:The base alloy of the shape memory alloy charged into a nozzle 1 is melted by a work coil 3 and the molten metal 3 is once poured onto the outside periphery of a roll 4. The molten metal in the hot state after quick cooling and solidifying is rolled by said roll and the other roll 5 to <=0.5mm thickness in a temp. region of about >=50% the m.p. of the strip 6. The thin strip 6 of which the crystal grains having the long axis L of about <=3 times the short axis l occupies about >=80% of the entire part is thus obtd. and the shape memory alloy having the structure without the columnar structure is obtd. |
