PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material having high sensitivity and incapable of being colored with alcohols, etc., for its ground portion by using a specific alpha-naphthol compound as all or a part of developers. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal recording material utilizing the chromogenic reaction between a leuco dye and a developer, as the main component of the developer, alpha-naphthol compound of the formula I, where R1 and R2 are each a C1-C7 alkyl or the formula II (R3 is H or a halogen). The use of the alpha-naphthol compound can almost prevent the recoloration of the ground portion by alcohols, etc., as compared with the cases with the conventional developers such as bisphenol A. Also, besides the compound of the formula I, developers composed of phenolic substances, or an inorganic or organic substance or its derivatives may be used. The preferred amount of the developer to be used is 1-10pts.wt. in general on the basis of 1pt.wt. leuco dye, and that of the developer of the formula I to be used is 80wt% or more of all the developers used. |
