PURPOSE:To permit continuous total recording free of tonal difference to be performed by changing dot areas to be formed by melt ink by altering the diameter of focused beam on the irradiation face of light beam on the basis of a recording information. CONSTITUTION:When a focusing leans 10 is moved toward incidence direction (focusing direction) of laser on the basis of a tonal information by a controller 11, the distance (l) between the lens 10 and an ink sheet 1 is varied, and the irradiation area of focused laser beam on the back of the sheet 1 is changed. The irradiation area of focused laser beam can therefore be controlled according to tonal information and the areas of dots to be formed by solid ink transferred to a recording paper 4 is varied. A signal 11a for moving the lens 10 according to recording information is supplied to a light amount control mechanism 9 by the controller 11 to control the amount of laser beam from a laser generator 8. The energy density per unit area on the irradiation area of the sheet 1 can be kept constant in spite of the movement of the lens 10, and therefore, the density of dots transferred can be kept constant. |
