PURPOSE:To provide excellent appearance, shape and mechanical properties in butt welding of non-directional silicon steel strips by specifying energy density and welding heat input and controlling the focal position, output or welding speed of a laser beam. CONSTITUTION:In the stage of subjecting strips of non-directional silicon steel to butt welding by the use of a laser beam, a grooved backing bar is placed on the steel strips from the rear thereof, and the steel plates are welded with the laser beam of >=1.5X10<6>W/cm<2> energy density and <=240J/cm welding heat input under the control of part or the whole of the focal position, output or welding speed of the laser beam. |
