The present invention relates to a cock comprising a body 1 provided with at least one inlet connection 2 and one outlet connection 3 as well as a shut-off element 5 interacting with a seat 4 made, inside the body, on the fluid stream path. According to the invention, a non-return valve 13 is inserted, inside the body 1 of the cock, on the path of the fluid stream, occupying the entire flow cross-section of the latter. In the case of a stopcock with rotating shut-off element 5, drilled right through by a duct 11 capable of putting the inlet and outlet connections in communication with one another in a given angular position of the shut-off element, the non-return valve 13 is inserted, via a sealing means, inside the duct 11 of the rotating shut-off element 5. Application especially to cocks combined with water meters on domestic water supply pipes. <IMAGE>
