A thermally insulated ventilated roof with a pitch of at least 10 deg. consists of a support system, lagging, a film to repel surface water, a sub-roof system and the roofing. The space between the insulation or support system and the film is filled with an open-pore, durable insulating material whose thickness is chosen so that whatever water collects during the winter is evaporated again in the summer under the climatic conditions concerned.
