PURPOSE:To reduce the turbulence of the oscillating mode of a laser beam by a method wherein the excitation intensity of the laser beam is uniformized over the whole interior of the laser rod. CONSTITUTION:Excitation light adjusting pipes 15 are arranged on the periphery of a laser rod 14 in a clearance opposed state and the transmittance distributions of light on the peripheral surfaces of these excitation light adjusting pipes 15 are made to continuously vary along the peripheral direction of the laser rod 14. Moreover, the adjusting pipes 15 are formed in such a way that the transmittance of light on the peripheral surface of the adjusting pipe 15 at the central part 15a of the opposed surface to a lamp 13 for excitation is lowest and the transmittances of light on the peripheral surfaces of the other adjusting pipes 15 become gradually higher as the adjusting pipes 15 go away from the central part 15a of the opposed surface to the lamp 13 for excitation. Accordingly, the excitation light from the lamp 13 for excitation can be uniformly irradiated on the whole peripheral surface of the laser rod 14 and the excitation intensity of the laser beam can be uniformized over the whole interior of the laser rod 14. |
