Apparatus for cleaning any smooth surface, comprising a combined vacuum cleaner like device, capable of sucking up both water and dust. This apparatus moreover comprises a reservoir 2 for water or other cleaning liquid, as well as a combined workhead 11, which simultaneously has a slit sucking member connected to the suction pipe 8 of the vacuum cleaner like device 1 and a liquid application member, for example a porous body 15, in which a flexible feed tube 10 ends up, this flexible tube being connected up to the outlet of a suction and reversal pump 9 associated with the reservoir 2 for water or other cleaning liquid. The workhead 11 of this apparatus is intended to slide over the surface to be cleaned with an orientation such that the liquid application member 15 passes over the surface first. This apparatus may be used for cleaning any smooth surface, for instance tiled or plastic covered floors, glass panes, etc. <IMAGE>
