PURPOSE:To repay a voting card even when it is a horizontal card or a longitudinal card by discriminating whether an arranging direction of a character, etc., expressed on the rectangular voting card is a horizontal card in parallel to the long side or a longitudinal card in parallel to the short side. CONSTITUTION:The voting card 2 is read with an image sensor 7 by converting a video signal to a digital signal by an A/D converter 20 and fetching into the first and second RAMs 14 and 15. After reading, a pattern collating processing is executed in the order with the setting pattern showing a judging processing of black/white distribution condition in an X axis direction, a judging processing of black/white distribution condition a Y axis direction, black/white distribution condition in the X axis direction and the Y axis direction and black/white distribution condition of the horizontal card. The pattern collation is executed by comparing the read contents of the above-mentioned first and second RAMs 14 and 15 wit the setting pattern stored in the first and second ROMs 16 and 17. When the pattern is consistent, a character decoding processing of the horizontal card is executed by the first decoding means, and the character decoding processing of the longitudinal card is executed by the second decoding means. When it is judged to be a hitting card, the repaying amount is counted. |
