New process for the preparation of arylalkyl derivatives using an activated intermediate consisting of organic nickel complexes. This preparation process is characterised in that it consists of a heterocoupling of halogenated derivatives with an activated intermediate consisting of a sigma -arylnickel complex, according to reaction I below: <IMAGE> where: - Ar represents the aryl radical; - X represents a halogen atom; - L represents a tertiary phosphine, such as P(C6H5)3 or P(C6H5)2 - (CH2)n - P(C6H5)2, n being equal to 2 or 3; - A represents the groups <IMAGE>, -CEN, <IMAGE>; - R represents a hydrogen atom or the CH3 group.
