The industrial robot has a fixed horizontal arm (1) with guides (1a,1b) for a slide (2). The slide (2) has a vertical arm with a head (4) which can be moved vertically. The components to be assembled by the robots are mounted on pallets (6) which can slide on horizontal guide rails (5) which run at right angles to the horizontal arm (1). The pallets are attached by pins (12) to toothed racks (8) driven by pinions (9).
