According to the invention, a groundplate 10 is bordered on each of two opposite sides by a longitudinal tie 11, to which a connection key 12 is attached longitudinally, for its connection to a neighbouring groundplate 10 of the same type, in an independent form, the said longitudinal tie 11 and the said connection key 12 having transverse cross sections which are at least partially complementary and suitable for their mutual interlocking by engagement at one of their ends. Application in particular to the formation of runways or linked sectional roadways used for enabling wheeled vehicles to cross soft or marshy terrain or for freeing such vehicles from sand. <IMAGE>
